RE: Hawaii Tour advise

No need for a tour company. Just go to the beach. Plenty of kids to meet there.

RE: clean windows

Suggestions needed---what will remove waterspots on the windows on the outside? The coach seems to clean up very nice so I question when someone said it was acid rain. I have tried so many things already but am open to all suggestions and methods. Thank you
Spots are usually hardness from city or well water - calcium and/or magnesium carbonate. It dissolves in acid, which is why vinegar works. Actually, acid rain will clean it off, although slowly.

RE: '05 Minnie 26A - Any Experienced?

I have an '04 Minnie - 24-ft. I understand mileage has little to do with size with the V-10s. It seems to depend more on how you drive. If you're like us and try to drive 500 to 600 miles in a three-day weekend, you'll get 7.5 mpg.
Our Minnie has been great, but some people complain about the passenger legroom and footwell heat in the Ford. Since I'm the one that drives, I don't have a problem. :B

RE: Boondocking in Redding, Redbluff or Yreka

There is a nice Forest Service Campground in Red Bluff. Last time we were there, they were putting in electric service.

RE: Power Inverter ????

Let's start with "How many watts are the TV and DVD?" I would add those two and double that to size the inverter.
You will be hooking the leads directly to the battery. If you use the clamps that come on the inverter, the inverter will have a fuse. If you make a more permanent wire connection, the positive lead should have a fuse within 18" of the battery terminal. The fuse size is determined by the inverter and wire size.
If the TV and DVD are far from the batteries, make the DC wiring short and the AC wire long.
Xantrex makes excellent inverters.

RE: location of oil pressure switch on a E450 superduty

I typed in "Ford E-series manual" on e-Bay and got 40 listings. I got real Ford printed manuals on eBay earlier this year. Vol. 1 & 2 for <$40.

RE: Swimming pools

...
In your opinion(s) which is better?
Somebody else's swimming pool. A lot of maintennace, expense and concern about liability.
Also, all these people that want to use your pool! :W:B

RE: winterable class C brands

I've only overnighted in temperatures in the 30's. ...
I've dry camped in my 324V Minnie in the 20's with no issues, except getting the windshield defrosted (it just took a while).
I didn't use the tank heaters, and they were fine. As long as there is some space for the water to expand, they are fine even if some ice does form.

I've read about him and seen him in action. He was a fine gentleman. For the drivers of his era, dying of old age is considered quite an accomplishment.

RE: My trailer came with an Optima Yellow Top...is this alright?

Hi Jeremy,
Don't know where you got the idea that a Optima would not make a good RV battery from, but they make a great RV battery. ....
:C
As wa8yxm pointed out, the spiral design results in fewer amp-hours per cubic foot. Also, Optimas cost about the same and have the same chemistry as Lifeline (or MK, or DEKA) batteries. Lifeline, MK and DEKA have the same advantages as Optimas, but there are more amp-hrs per cubic foot or cubic dollar. So my, and wa8yxm's, conclusion is that Optimas make ok RV batteries, but there are better ones for the dollar.
As for the OP, use it until it dies. You're not stressing it much, and you don't need a lot of amp-hours.

RE: Awning rail on 99 Itasca - Wrong spot??

tatest is correct. On my 2004 Minnie, the interlocking aluminum extrusion provides an awning rail about 4" down from the "top", and that's where the awning is attached. My wall/roof joint is rounded instead of a sharp corner.

RE: Caution - Never buy Scientific Oregon Stuff

My stuff from them works just fine. Of course you have to realize that those little plastic brackets were never meant for that kind of service. I put my outside sensor in the bottom of a basement cabinet so it stays out of the sun.

RE: Watch your tire pressure at Wal-Mart

Being a Sunday more than likely all the certified Techs were off and he was not authorzied/qualified to service air above a set limit and since most vehicle tires are under 35 psi, he may not have know better. As stated above, liability, you have to many sue happy individuals out there now a days.
If the OP had not checked the pressure and had the tire blow due to underinflation, he could rightfully sue. It's probably for worker safety, since at higher pressures, tires are suppose to be pressurized remotely (no, I don't do it either). It may be an OSHA thing.

RE: Water Filter Guts

This one was mounted under the sink and I think is three years old. I can't resist tearing stuff apart and this filter was calling to me. I have to admit that when I hit it with the Sawzall, I was surprised by the rooster tail of black liquid charcoal spraying my chest!
